South East Deer Advisory Committee

The South East Deer Advisory Committee (SEDAC) concerns itself with providing strategic advice on deer control and management issues to the SE Natural Resources Management Board, through sharing of information and engaging with stakeholders. The SEDAC is a dedicated group which offers specific advice and adds value to the SE NRM Board's activities.  For more information on Deer please visit the Deer fact sheets.

SEDAC provides a link to key stakeholders for discussing and reporting progress on deer control and management activities and have successfully established networks, fostered relationships and coordinated cross-boundary deer control. They also assist the Board in achieving a greater level of compliance with deer keeping and control responsibilities under the NRM Act.  They provide locally relevant advice on options for deer control and management strategies and work to improve industry and community awareness of problems caused by deer, including improving deer farmers and landholder awareness of responsibilities under the NRM Act.

They also assist to identify gaps in knowledge in relation to deer control and management in the South East.  They clarify the disease risk potential of feral deer populations and the implications for South East landholders.  They also identify possible funding sources to assist landholders with deer control and management and have developed and submitted funding applications for large scale deer programs in the upper south east.

SEDAC identifies, supports and facilitates the implementation of best practice deer control techniques.
