Irrigation Management Planning

The Irrigation  Management Planning Project

A pilot program of ‘Irrigation Management Planning’ was initiated by the SE NRM Board with nine participating landowners. Irrigated enterprises represented included dairy, Lucerne seed, small seed production and pasture. The program will provide regional examples of the benefits of integrated management and planning. The results of the analysis will provide the property owner with detailed knowledge to better manage their enterprise into the future. Property owners will be armed with extensive knowledge of the soils within their irrigation areas, the capacity of their current irrigation systems and methods to improve irrigation to new levels of efficiency. This knowledge growth will enable property owners to make better decisions on irrigation scheduling, allowing them to manage their water allocations to their maximum benefit.
